Big Brother: Cody makes his first two nominations as Head of Household

Cody Calafiore made his first big moves as the newly-minted Head  of Household on Sunday night’s episode of Big Brother.

Calafiore won last week’s challenge earning him Head of Household, and on Sunday, he nominated his first two contestants to be eliminated, Kevin Campbell and Keesha Smith.

A brand new feature of the Big Brother house – the Safety Suite – was used for the first time, with Kaysar Ridha and Janelle Pierzina taking refuge to save themselves from elimination – which was fitting since Cody basically admitted those were going to be his first two nominations.

Everyone starts hanging out as Cody says he ‘needs to win Head of Household’ because he didn’t want to leave his fate in anyone’s hands.

The other houseguests see photos of themselves from their previous appearances while Da’Vonne Rogers says she’s ‘kind of intimidating’ to see the All-Stars.

Ian says he wants to win Head of Household but he adds there are other ways to get ahead without winning competitions.

Dani reveals she’s the first four-time player in BB history as she reunited with Kaysar.

Enzo says he was ‘ecstatic’ to be back and said it took him a decade to get back into the house, as Da’vonne and Nicole talk.

Nicole says Da’vonne changed her life and she wants to return the favor somehow.

Da’vonne says they were in two alliances together but she crossed her so she’s not playing with her now.

Cody says the Have Not room is finally open so they have to crawl in and find their dingy room.

Kevin goes, ‘Why am I a have not already on Day 1” while talking about the Have Not room, making it clear he’s not pleased.

Kaysar says the ‘game has evolved a lot’ since he last played, revealing there is much more of a social impact on the game.

Nicole says she’s not nervous with Cody as HoH and she thinks her and Cody will be a ‘duo to be reckoned with.’

She asks if they are ‘ride or die’ and he makes it clear they are still a strong pair as they talk about who they want to work with.

Nicole says she wants to make a girls alliance and she will tell him everything as Cody says he wants to throw Kaysar and Jenelle ‘in jail.’

Tyler says he’s ‘cool’ with Cody being head of household as he goes to chat with Cody while he’s getting ready for bed.

Cody says that he’s still wondering if he can trust Tyler or not

Cody tells everyone to meet in the living room cause Big Brother has a ‘huge announcement.’

Cody reads from a card and tells them about the Safety Suite, which will be open for a period of time before nominations.

They all get VIP passes but you can only go into the Safety Suite once and you can’t enter it again.

The houseguest who wins each competition will get to pick a Plus One and get saved, but they will endure a special ‘punishment’ for a week.

Cody thinks the Safety Suite kind of sucks because it’s hard enough to come up with nominations.

Janelle thinks the Safety Suite was a ‘double-edged sword’ while Kaysar doesn’t know if he fits in or not, adding he has to get an idea of what Cody is thinking.

Dani says she’s never played the game when she’s not ‘one of the main people being targeted’ as the Safety Suite is open.

They all talk about playing the Safety Suite card too early, as no one has used it yet.

Janelle isn’t sure if she should do it and she wants to ask Cody if she’s safe or not but she’s indecisive as the clock ticks down.

Kaysar says he has ‘no relationship’ with Cody as they talk together while Cody says in confession he’s not ‘showing all his cards’ to Kaysar.

Kaysar says in confession that Cody gave him the ‘scripted response’ and he found it quite insulting.

Janelle says Cody is ‘so confusing’ and she thinks he has something in the works but she doesn’t know what it is.

Janelle tells Cody that she thinks everyone is too scared to use the Safety Suite.

With one minute left, they all wonder if anyone will use the Safety Suite and with 30 seconds left, Kaysar makes his move and goes to the Safety Suite.

With just seconds remaining, Janelle joins Kaysar in the Safety Suite.

Kaysar and Janelle are tasked with a challenge called Don’t Miss a Beat to recreate a group of lyrics and whoever does it fastest wins safety for the week.

Kaysar isn’t really doing a good job with the challenge.

Kaysar eventually finishes but he’s worried about Janelle because she is great at competitions, but Janelle is having problems too.

Janelle finishes but it’s not known if she is fast enough, as Cody brings everyone into the living room for the results of the Don’t Miss a Beat.

Kaysar finishes with 7 minutes and 55 seconds and Janelle has a time of 16 minutes and 33 seconds, meaning Kaysar is safe.

Kaysar gets to name his Plus One, and he decides to give it to Janelle, as Cody says he will see everyone else at nominations.

Cody is mad that Kaysar and Janelle are safe because he thought they might be his nominations.

Cody chats with Nicole and sets her at easy as he sets his sights on nominations.

Janelle’s ‘punishment’ is she becomes the BB mascot, putting on a star costume.

Kevin gets emotional while talking to Cody as they hug and Kevin says he did nothing wrong as Cody admits its really stressful.

Cody wants to make sure Kevin is comfortable and he can pull him aside at any time, and in confession he says it ‘hit him’ having that chat with Kevin.

Though he does add if you want to get far in this game you have to separate emotions.

At the nomination ceremony, Cody’s first nomination is Keesha and the second nomination is Kevin, who closes his eyes and says “Oh my God.’

He makes it clear that it’s early in the game and it’s not personal, as Keysha says it would be ‘devastating’ to be the first eliminated as the episode comes to an end.

Big Brother returns with a new episode on Wednesday, August 12 on CBS.
