This Morning: Eamonn Holmes apologises as guest, 82, swears

‘It’s pure c**p!’ Eamonn Holmes is forced to apologise as This Morning guest Ivy swears on air after hitting out at the BBC over licence fee row

Eamonn Holmes was forced to apologise after a guest swore during Wednesday’s installment of This Morning.

The presenter, 60, stepped in after 82-year-old Ivy Siegfried exclaimed ‘it’s pure c**p’ as she slammed the BBC over the latest licence fee row.

Outspoken Ivy appeared on the ITV show two weeks ago where she claimed that she’d rather go to prison than pay the licence fee after the BBC scrapped the free service for over 75s.

The Scotswoman returned to the show where she joined Matthew Wright in discussing this week’s news and events.

But when talk turned to the licence fee drama, Ivy let rip at the broadcaster over the move and she didn’t hold back in saying what she thought.

Discussing the reports that some elderly people have been scammed after receiving fake licence fee letters, Ivy said: ‘Eamonn I’ve had emails telling me I have to pay it and they can’t get through to my bank.

‘I just delete and I tell everyone else if you don’t know how to do that or if you get a letter, ask your family or ask someone else to help you.

‘Some elderly people just go ahead because they’re terrified.’

She added: ‘That’s why the BBC are picking on the elderly.’

In response, Eamonn added: ‘Well I wouldn’t just blame the BBC, I think you’ve got to blame the last Conservative administration on this one under George Osbourne as well.

‘Do you know what I think is appalling and condescending?

‘They say to people like you, “Okay dear you can get on the bus and if you want to use the train you can have it for free,”‘

‘But the actual thing you depend on most, the television and radio the thing that keeps people company more than anything. No, you’re going to have to pay for that. That’s the immorality of it.’

An irate Ivy was quick to remark: ‘It’s pure c**p!’ with Eamonn saying: ‘I couldn’t have put it better myself.’

Ivy continued: ‘Why are we paying for Gary Lineker to sit on his backside and get paid £2 million for talking football with a couple of his pals.

‘No chance, I’m not doing that.’
