‘Yes, I made a mistake, my bad’: Good Morning Britain presenter Antoine Allen gets Charlotte Hawkins’ name wrong in awkward blunder

Good Morning Britain presenter Antoine Allen got Charlotte Hawkins’ name wrong in an awkward blunder on the show on Monday.

The host appeared to read his autocue wrong and called her ‘Catherine’ rather than Charlotte.

Neither Charlotte, 45, nor Adil Ray, 46, who was co-presenting the show with her seemed to notice, but Antoine was taken to task on Twitter.

One viewer wrote: ‘By the way who is Catherine?@CharlotteHawkins is presenting today.’

He kindly wrote back: ‘Yep, I made a mistake, my bad. :(- Second bulletin was correct though ;).’

The viewer responded: ‘Yes noticed that. It happens and we’re all human. Have a good day.’

Antoine, ever the gent, replied: ‘And you sir. Thanks for tuning in.’

Kate Garraway, 53, usually presents the show on Mondays but Charlotte was standing in for her on this day.

No worries: Charlotte didn't seem to notice but Antoine later took to Twitter to acknowledge his error

It’s thought to be because Kate has decided to take some time off to be with her children, Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, before their return to school.

Kate’s husband, Derek Draper, remains in hospital recovering from Coronavirus.

Last week, Kate reassured viewers that Derek, who has been hospitalised since March, ‘is very much still with us,’ but it is still a ‘waiting game’.

The presenter admitted she feels a level of guilt about returning to the job she loves, explaining: ‘You feel almost bad because oh I’m laughing and he’s still there in a minimally conscious state, it’s a difficult balance.’

‘I know everyone has been so lovely and are concerned, but then you don’t want to talk about it on GMB every time because it’s not cheering up everyone,’ she continued.

Kate then admitted that ‘it was a worrying week last week’.’

‘We’ve still got lots of challenges, challenges with food, challenges with everything, with lungs with everything. We just want him to wake up.’

‘The nurses are putting this show on in the morning for him in the hope that might trigger something, but its a waiting game.’

‘I’m lucky I’ve got the chance to wait and he’s still with us and lots of people don’t have that.’

Adil reassured his friend, telling her: ‘You’re truly inspiring you really are, a lot of families will be taking a lot of strength from you a lot of people have been suffering from coronavirus people have suffered all kinds of grief and issues, I thinks it’s inspiring’.
