The Masked Singer’s Sophie Monk teases new music on The Project before delivering an impromptu rendition of Mariah Carey’s hit Hero
Sophie Monk has teased some new music during her appearance on The Project on Tuesday evening.
The former Bardot songstress – who was eliminated from The Masked Singer on Monday – admitted that she was so terrified of singing live on the series that she befriended the vocal coach and they co-wrote a song together.
And showing her fans just what they can expect from her new material, the 41-year-old showed off her vocal range with an impromptu rendition of Mariah Carey‘s smash-hit tune, Hero.

Talking about her experience on the show, Sophie admitted: ‘I didn’t realise that you sing live. I heard of the show and thought – there’s no way that these people are singing live. You do!
‘So I was like, what have I got myself into? I then made friends with Gary, the vocal coach, and we wrote a song together.
‘I’d love to release it if people want it. I’m not sure that they want it, though, that’s the issue!’

Host Waleed Aly responded: ‘We do, we do [want her new music]!’
Aware that their interview with Sophie was running its course, Carrie Bickmore asked her to sing a song for them.
The blonde bombshell sang a few lines of Mariah Carey’s Hero before the interview ended.

Sophie’s music career began in 1999, when she competed on reality show Popstars.
She went on to form the band Bardot, which was active from 2000 to 2002, before embarking on a solo career with Warner Music. She left her label two years later.
Sophie was unmasked as the Dragonfly on Monday’s episode of The Masked Singer.
