They celebrated 11 years of marriage in May after tying the knot in 2009 during a romantic Italian ceremony.

And Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband husband Peter Sarsgaard enjoyed a relaxing cycling date in Greece on Tuesday. 

The actress, 42, looked effortlessly chic in a white cover-up dress with a black swimsuit underneath it.

Sticking to her low-key look, Maggie opted for a straw sunhat, red sliders and black Ray-Ban sunglasses. 

Peter, 49, looked dapper in a white vest top and black shorts which he teamed with brown sandals, a silver necklace and tortoiseshell sunglasses. 

The couple, who have two daughters – Ramona, 14, and Gloria, eight – appeared in good spirits as they enjoyed a relaxing bike ride in the Greek sun.

Maggie and Peter are said to be busy filming their new feature film The Lost Daughter based on Elena Ferrante’s 2006 book of the same name.

The actress has written the script and will be directing the movie with Paul Mescal, Olivia Colman, Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley and Maggie’s husband Peter starring in it.    

Normal People heartthrob Paul, 24, confirmed the news on Twitter in August, saying: ‘I’m a very excited boy!’. 

The plot follows Colman’s character whose beach holiday takes a dark turn when she starts confronting her past.

The Favourite actress will play a college professor who becomes obsessed with a young woman and a daughter during the holiday.

Maggie said in a statement to Variety at the time: ‘When I finished reading Elena Ferrante’s The Lost Daughter, I felt that something secret and true had been said out loud. And I was both disturbed and comforted by that.

‘I immediately thought how much more intense the experience would be in a movie theatre, with other people around. And I set to work on this adaptation.

‘I find that the script has attracted other people interested in exploring these secret truths about motherhood, sexuality, femininity, desire. And I’m thrilled to continue my collaboration with such brave and exciting actors and filmmakers.’
