Chris Hemsworth announces his new role in the Mad Max prequel Furiousa and says ‘he’ll do his best to continue the tradition of cinematic badassery’
He’s the handsome Australian actor known for playing Thor in the Marvel universe.
And now Chris Hemsworth’s has scored his next big acting in the Mad Max prequel, Furiousa, alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Anya Taylor-Joy.
On Wednesday, Chris, 37, shared the exciting news to Instagram: ‘Mad Max was the pinnacle and a huge reason why I got into the business of telling stories.’

‘The fact that I’ll have the honor of not only being directed by its original visionary in George Miller but also take part in Furiosa’s origin story is incredibly exciting.
‘Huge respect to George, Mel, Charlize, Tom and all the cast and crew who helped build this epic world. I’ll do my best to continue the tradition of cinematic badassery.’
The announcement follows rumours swirling Warner Bros. were keen for the Extraction star to play a new character, called Dementus, in August.

A description of the character read: ‘He is breathtakingly handsome. An angel’s face, scarred by a deep forehead wound stitched together with shiny chrome staples.’
It is unclear whether the newly introduced role of Dementus will be a hero or villain in the adventure – set prior to the events of Mad Max: Fury Road.

Anya, 24, will take the lead and star in the main role which Miller will direct, co-write and produce with his longtime Oscar-nominated producing partner Doug Mitchell.
Miller told The New York Times earlier this year he was looking for an actress in her 20s to fill the position.
He considered using de-aging technology for 44-year-old Charlize Theron, 45, to portray the 24-year-old character but ultimately decided against it.

Miller is set to bring much of the Oscar-winning Mad Max team back – including production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt.
Hemsworth is in pre-production for Marvel’s latest addition to the Thor franchise, Thor: Love & Thunder, which will begin filming in March.
