Timothée Chalamet was ’embarrassed’ by steamy Lily-Rose Depp photos… and admits he’s ‘chasing a feeling’ when it comes to his next big role

He became a household name after starring in the Academy Award-winning flick, Call Me By Your Name.

But Timothée Chalamet admitted to GQ that despite his growing popularity, it was difficult to see photos of himself enjoying a romantic day with then-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp in Paris in the fall.

The 24-year-old actor fondly recalled the evening before waking up and ‘feeling embarrassed’ to see that his fans believed his boating adventure was merely a PR stunt.

‘I went to bed that night thinking that was one of the best days of my life,’ he said of his romantic adventure with Depp.

‘I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closing my eyes, I was like, indisputably, “That was great.”‘

By morning, Chalamet was overwhelmed with responses to what appeared to be a staged day on the water.

‘And then waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real nob? All pale?’ he said. ‘And then people are like: This is a P.R. stunt. A P.R. stunt?! Do you think I’d want to look like that in front of all of you?!”

The pair dated for more than a year before going their separate ways in April when he confirmed to British Vogue that he was single again.

And Timothee is making the most of his time to focus on his craft after skyrocketing to fame following his Oscar nomination.

‘I want to get back to the undefined space again,’ he said. ‘I’m chasing a feeling. When you think you’re doing some great thing, it’s probably something you’ve done before, and when you really f***ing have no clue, that’s when you’re doing something on the edge, good or bad.’

He admitted that he’s now trying to be more intentional with his career after struggling with his new identity.

‘I was trying to marry these two realities,’ he said. ‘I don’t even think I knew that was what I was doing. That dissonance was real. And thank God. Because I feel like if I’d caught up to it immediately, I would’ve been a psychopath or something.’

He’s more focused than ever on creating and recently signed on to work with Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up.

‘If I get hit by a truck next week, I’m looking at 20 to 23, I don’t know if you can top that,’ he said. ‘Maybe I’ll never do a great work of art again, but I just feel like I’m confident in the way I’m trying to approach things now, how I’m setting up the angles.’
