Channel Seven’s home renovation show, House Rules, has been axed by the network.

But the show’s former host Abbey Gelmi is certainly not dwelling on the past, with two roles with Seven keeping her busy.

Speaking to Perth Now on Sunday, the 30-year-old sports reporter said she was excited to cover the summer of cricket, starting with the Women’s Big Bash League.

The Perth-raised journalist said her career is like living a childhood dream.

‘Honestly it’s a dream job. It’s something I grew up dreaming of doing, sometimes when you dream of getting a job and get to that point it’s sometimes not that fun whereas I got there and realised it was cooler than I ever imagined,’ Gelmi said.

However, it’s not the only role Abbey has to look forward to with Seven.

House Rules was noticeably absent from the network’s content line-up at the annual Upfronts this month, alongside Plate Of Origin and Pooch Perfect.

Abbey admitted to Daily Mail Australia in December that she and new co-host Jamie Durie had big shoes to fill in the absence of veteran host Johanna Griggs.

‘Johanna did an amazing job over so many seasons, so we’re definitely hoping to do her and the show justice,’ she said at the time.

House Rules: High Stakes premiered on Channel Seven in April with WAG Kyly Clarke and Saul Myers joining the judging panel alongside Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.

The series failed to be a ratings success, with a large drop in viewers on previous years’ seasons.
