Schapelle Corby is rumoured to be the highest paid celebrity to appear on SAS Australia

Schapelle Corby is rumoured to be the highest paid celebrity to appear on SAS Australia… despite quitting the reality show in the second episode

She quit halfway through the second episode, but Schapelle Corby is rumoured to have been the highest paid celebrity on SAS Australia.

The 43-year-old convicted drug smuggler was believed to have negotiated a $150,000 pay packet for the gruelling Channel Seven reality show.

But an insider denied this figure in an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday, and said it was less than $100,000 per person.

‘All I’ll say is the total talent fee would’ve been less than $1million for the entire group… a good investment for Channel Seven as ratings are through the roof,’ the source said.

They added: ‘There’s a flat fee and an additional daily rate you’re paid for each day you stay on.’

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Channel Seven for comment.

On Friday, a source closely connected to the show told Daily Mail Australia that most of the contestants were paid between $30,000 and $50,000.

However, one star apparently managed to negotiate a remarkable pay packet of $20,000 per hour.

Several participants have already dropped out of the series, making their generous salaries all the more incredible.

Publicist Roxy Jacenko only lasted six hours, quitting after the instructors made the stars submerge themselves in freezing cold water as punishment.

‘I can’t do it. I actually can’t… My leg’s killing me. I can’t do it,’ the 40-year-old told the show’s DS (directing staff) as she handed over her armband.

The second episode saw both Arabella Del Busso and Schapelle Corby also elect to leave, while Mitchell Johnson quit during Tuesday’s episode.
