New I’m A Celebrity trailer shows Ant And Dec searching for ‘Aussie tucker’

A new I’m A Celeb trailer was released on Monday and shows Ant and Dec poking fun at the show moving from Australia to North Wales amid the coronavirus pandemic.

While looking for their camp, which they believe to be in the Australian jungle, they come across a cafe and demand some ‘authentic Aussie tucker’.

To hammer the point home, they call the waitress ‘Sheila’ and Ant demands ‘some shrimp off the Barbie.’

However, they are given some authentic Welsh cakes, which they believe to be from Sydney, but they were in fact made by a Welsh man called Sidney.

The promo comes after it was claimed the show will officially start on Sunday November 15 with TV bosses set to confirm the date on Monday.

It’s also been claimed the show will go on as planned, despite Wales going back into lockdown until November 9 due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.

The popular show does tend to start in the middle of November with a Sunday night often being used as the launch show.

It then runs for three weeks, with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly as hosts, in the lead-up to Christmas.

MailOnline has contacted ITV for a comment.

This year’s UK-based season is also expected to air for a similar amount of time as usual, but instead be broadcast from Gwrych Castle in north Wales.

A spokesman for the castle also addressed the recent lockdown and said the show would go ahead as planned.

Taking to Twitter, they said: ‘Following the announcement from the First Minister the overriding message is that filming CAN continue in Wales providing related activity cannot be undertaken from home, and there is full compliance with Welsh law. We cannot wait to see I’m A Celebrity on our screens.’

Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford announced on October 16 that the ‘firebreak’ lockdown would start on Friday 23 October and run until at least November 9.

Mr Drakeford explained how bars, restaurants and all non-essential shops would close from 6pm on Friday 23 and that everyone in Wales will be ordered to ‘stay at home’ unless they are critical workers or are unable to work from home.

The news of I’m A Celeb’s return also comes after it was reported that this year’s contestants will be shunning the usual attire of bikinis and shorts in favour of winter woolies, as they wrap up in jumpers and thick gilets.

ITV bosses have reportedly put the new look together so that the celebrities are protected from the low temperatures predicted during filming.

While they usually bask in temperatures of around 30C (86F), this year the contestants will have a very different experience as they battle with temperatures of around 11C (52F) in Abergele, North Wales.
