Ellen Pompeo donned an animal print coat as she shopped at Malibu’s Trancas Country Market on a chilly Sunday in the luxe beach town in Southern California.

Pompeo, 51, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on the ABC medical drama, wore a large grey coat with black print over a white tank top with black sweatpants and white trainers.

She wore a black paperboy hat over her blonde locks as she left the market with a bag full of items as the holiday weekend wound down.

The Everett, Massachusetts native, who is mother to Stella, 11, and Sienna, six, and son Eli, three, with husband Chris Ivery, 53, was seen holding a navy blue wetsuit in another shot on the chilly November morning.

Pompeo earlier this month was named the Female TV Star of 2020 at the E! People’s Choice Awards. She delivered a rousing speech to the fans, making clear she was grateful to the millions of people who have watched the series, which has been running on ABC since 2005.

‘If it weren’t for all of you who support us and watch us every week, we would never get to have the fun that we get to have and touch the lives that we get to touch and just live out our dreams,’ Pompeo said.

She said that the honors were ‘confirmation that people respond’ strongly to concepts such as love, acceptance and helping one another.

‘2020 has been a year where we have been tested, time and time again,’ she said. ‘And we have also proven that when we do that, when we look out for each other, and we pull up, anything as possible.’

Pompeo last month chat about her career with Variety, recalling her initial concerns in inking onto the career-defining part on the series.

‘I was offered the role, and I was contemplating whether to take it or not,’ she said. ‘I was concerned about being on a TV show – you have to sign these contracts for six years. And at that time, I had only ever done movies. I had never done TV before. So the idea of being on a TV show for six years was a little scary.

‘And my agent said, “Oh, just do the pilot and make the money. These things never go.” So.’
