Lizzo is slammed by fans online for promoting ‘diet culture’ with fad smoothie detox… after revealing her personal struggles with confidence

She recently described having negative thoughts about her body while on her public journey with self love.

But Lizzo‘s fans were completely caught off guard when the singing sensation shared a few clips participating in a fad diet program.

The 32-year-old songstress posed in front of the camera for a post about a ’10-day smoothie detox,’ only for her trusty followers to question how and why the body-positive star bought into ‘diet culture.’

Oh no! Lizzo’s fans were completely caught off guard when the singing sensation shared a few clips participating in a fad diet program

Lizzo sported a bright red sports bra with matching leggings while showing off her figure for the camera.

She switched things up with various athleisure while documenting her journey with the 10-day program.

In addition to drinking shakes, the Because I Love You singer showed off a massive jug of ‘beauty water’ chilling in the fridge.

Fans were shocked to see their favorite singer taking part in an online fad after spending the bulk of her career advocating for more inclusive bodies to take space in an otherwise thin world.

‘Seeing you promote diet culture is breaking my heart,’ one fan wrote in the clip.

Another follower wrote: ‘Whaaat?! No no no! Detoxes don’t work and they definitely do not promote body positivity.’

In a TikTok video posted earlier this month, Lizzo said: ‘I came home, and I took my clothes off to take a shower, and I just started having all of these really negative thoughts about myself.

‘Like, you know, “What’s wrong with me?” Maybe everything, all the mean things people say about me are true. And, you know, “Why am I so disgusting?” and hating my body.’

Lizzo — who’s full name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson — added that she was finding difficulty saying anything positive and allowed herself to sit with the negative emotion if only for a minute.

‘Normally I would have some positive thing to say to get me out of this, but I don’t, and that’s OK too,’ she said. ‘I think these are normal. They happen to everybody. They happen to the best of us. We are the best of us. And I just have to know that tomorrow how I feel in here [she pointed to her head] is gonna change.

‘And I can only hope that it changes for the better. But I know I’m beautiful, I just don’t feel it. But I know I’m going to get through it.’
