Toni Pearen rose to fame on soap opera E Street in the early 1990s, before launching a pop career.   

And on Thursday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, the 48-year-old had viewers doubting her honesty when she told Grant Denyer she doesn’t read gossip magazines.

‘Toni keeps saying she doesn’t read gossip mags and then brings up gossip she’s heard about the other celebrities???’ one posted on Twitter.

During the episode, Toni approached Grant, telling him how she remembered the headlines that were written about himself and wife Chezzi Denyer years prior.

‘I’m really curious. I’m sure you remember. Ages ago, you and your wife, Chezzi,  were in all the gossip magazines because they were saying they’ve gone off the rails or something,’ Toni began.

‘And I mean, I don’t read stuff like that, but I just remember it was headline after headline after headline,’ she continued.

Viewers began to doubt Toni’s honesty with her statement about not reading gossip magazines, having told Grant about how ‘ruthless’ the headlines had been.

‘Is that the fifth time she said she doesn’t read gossip magazines, but throws a piece of gossip out?’ one fan of the show shared on Twitter.

‘Toni at least two times this season, “I mean I don’t read gossip… but I heard”,’ another said.

‘For someone that doesn’t read the gossip mags, Toni sure does seem to know all the tea,’ one also posted.

On Wednesday’s episode, Toni quizzed Alli Simpson about her brother Cody’s relationship with Miley Cyrus.

‘So, Alli, I’m not into gossip at all,’ she began, ‘[but] I know your brother was dating Miley Cyrus. Which is not something I would normally know, but I know that.’  

Entertainment veteran Toni became a household name when she debuted on E Street in the early 1990s.

Following a pop career, she briefly appeared on Home and Away in 1994 and later hosted Australia’s Funniest Home Videos from 2003 to 2008.
