Airbnb reveals the top 10 places Britons in lockdown 3.0 are dreaming of visiting

Britons have been pining for lots of things during lockdown 3.0 – a handshake, a hug and a beer in a pub.

Holidays, too. In particular, it seems, to the Tanzanian archipelago of Zanzibar, which has taken the No1 spot in an Airbnb ranking of Britons’ top 10 ‘wanderlust destinations’, based on search spikes in January 2021 compared to 2020.

To help turn searches into bookings, Airbnb has handily released pictures of hot properties available to rent post-lockdown in each of the locations that on the list.

For Zanzibar, a £258pn solar-powered four-bedroom beach villa by the ocean is highlighted.

According to the host, it’s a ‘relaxation oasis’ and according to reviewer ‘Megan’, who stayed in July 2020, it’s ‘absolutely perfect’.

There you can book a ‘magnificent’ £1,364pn waterfront home that sleeps eight and was named ‘best honeymoon hideaway’ by the World Boutique Hotel Awards in London in 2015.

Third on the list is Bora-Bora in French Polynesia.

There travellers can rent a water bungalow for four that costs £294pn.

It’s called Can Savi, sleeps 12 and comes with a beautiful outdoor pool and exquisite interiors.

The rest of the top 10 wanderlust list comprises Courchevel, France (fifth); the town of Ski in Norway (sixth); Seoul, South Korea (seventh); Sydney, Australia (eighth); Sussex, Wisconsin, US (ninth), and Maafushi in the Maldives (10th).
