Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford fulfils her childhood dream as she trains to become an air hostess

Ruth Langsford transformed into an air hostess for a special edition of Loose Women on Tuesday.

The presenter, 60, revealed she fulfilled her ‘childhood dream’ by becoming a member of British Airways‘ cabin crew in a clip filmed two years ago.

Sporting a traditional attendant’s uniform, the host insisted she has ‘more respect for them now than I ever had’ as she engaged in a full-on training regime, which saw her practise safety guidelines and go down an evacuation slide in a red boiler suit.

The broadcaster’s segment was introduced by Janet Street-Porter, who revealed her co-star actually took part in the scheme before the coronavirus pandemic.

‘It’s the film that Ruth thought would never see the light of day and thanks to the pandemic it’s been gathering dust’, the journalist, 74, said.

‘But today, we’re finally gonna get to see when Ruth relived her childhood dream to become a member of cabin crew.’

An excited Holly Willoughby, 40, shared that her mother Linda was an air stewardess as This Morning came to a close, before Ruth added: Yes, I know. I love cabin crew.

‘That’s why I did the film. I have more respect for them now after doing that film than I ever had.’

The mother-of-one touched on how she was fascinated by the glamour life of the employees ever since she was a young girl, and stressed the importance of how they can save one’s life in an emergency.

Following her session, Ruth helped lead a real flight, informing passengers that she was in training.

Elsewhere in the episode, Eamonn Holmes’ wife admitted she had ‘a little cry’ during an ’emotional’ reunion with her mother Joan earlier this week.

The media personality confirmed she had two coronavirus tests before spending an hour with her beloved parent.

‘It was very emotional. We had a little cry, of course, but we didn’t want to waste that hour, we didn’t say it to one another, but we just had a little bit of a cry.

‘We just did our thing, we had a cup of tea, we sat together, I held her hand, she talked to the dog Maggie.

“It was a lovely moment. If that’s happening for you, I’m really happy for you, and if it’s not yet, hopefully it’s coming.’

The TV star also said she won’t be visiting Joan for Mother’s Day on Sunday, telling Janet, Brenda Edwards and Frankie Bridge: ‘They’re not actually doing Mothering Sunday because of the amount of people that want to go and it’s very restricted.

‘She’s had both her vaccines but they’re being extra careful. I was disappointed but I understand it, because everyone would want to visit on Mother’s Day.’
