Britney Spears ‘trusts’ Jodi Montgomery to replace father Jamie Spears as her conservator

Britney Spears has set her hopes on her care manager Jodi Montgomery replacing her father Jamie Spears as her conservator and believes things could be looking up if she’s successful.

The 39-year-old pop superstar not only ‘trusts’ Montgomery to take over her conservatorship, but insiders say her life ‘would drastically change for the better’ if her father was removed, Page Six reported Thursday.

The boost of confidence in her preferred conservator candidate comes after Spears’ attorney filed a petition to have Montgomery take over the conservatorship from her father, TMZ reported earlier this week.

Looking for a change: Insiders say Britney Spears’ life ‘would drastically change for the better’ if she succeeds in removing her father Jamie Spears from her conservatorship and installing her care manager Jodi Montgomery, Page Six reported Thursday

‘If Jodi becomes her conservator things would drastically change for Britney — she’s not working because of her dad. She has said that as long as a dad is in control of her life, she’s not working,’ a source close to Spears said.

‘Britney trusts Jodi Montgomery — she’s really great. Things would drastically change for the better,’ they continued.

The success of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah has led to speculation that Britney might try something similar, though the insider said she would only consider a tell-all interview once Jamie was replaced as her conservator.

‘If she decided she wanted to do [an Oprah-style interview], yes, but it [sic] definitely wouldn’t do it in the current status quo. As long as her dad is part of it, she’s not working. She hasn’t talked to her dad in over a year,’ they said.

An insider previously told Us Weekly that Britney was unlikely to do a tell-all interview.

‘The report about Britney considering a tell-all is greatly exaggerated and essentially giving false hope to the fans who tweeted calls for it after the Harry and Meghan interview,’ the source said.

‘Britney would like to tell her story and has always wanted to write a memoir, but the conservatorship makes that difficult and it’s not something on her immediate radar, anyway.’

Another source said she might be interested in sharing her story, but not on television.

‘Britney hasn’t mentioned doing an interview. She wants to speak and could do so on social media with the assistance of [boyfriend Sam ] on his platforms if it got to be this emergency situation for her,’ the second insider explained, adding: ‘She doesn’t want to be filtered.’

Jamie has had near-total control of his daughter’s estate since 2008, when the conservatorship was initiated in the wake of Britney’s mental health crises in 2007 and 2008.

Montgomery, who currently serves as Spear’s care manager, temporarily took over as conservator in 2019, when her father had to step down due to health concerns.

Though he has returned to the job, he now shares the responsibility of her finances with Bessemer Trust.

Britney might be making progress in her attempts to remove her father from leading her estate, as TMZ reported that Jamie isn’t opposed to resigning in favor of Montgomery.

Although the Toxic singer wants Montgomery to replace her father, her legal team has also sought the court’s permission to put an end to the conservatorship.

‘Petitioner expressly reserves the right to petition for termination of this conservatorship under Probate Code section 1861,’ the legal documents read, according to TMZ.

‘Nothing in the within petition shall be deemed to constitute a waiver of that right.’

The film help reignite outrage among her fans at her long-running conservatorship, even as Jamie has insisted his decision have always been in his daughter’s best interest.

As reported by The Mirror, Jamie’s lawyer Vivian Lee Thoreen said: ‘My client, Jamie Spears, has diligently and professionally carried out his duties as one of Britney’s conservators and his love for his daughter and dedication to protecting her is clearly apparent to the court.’

Despite Spears’ lawyers arguing that she no longer wants Jamie in charge of her finances and professional decisions, the conservatorship was extended until September 2021, with further hearings schedule for March 17 and April 27, according to Variety.
