Apple announced Tuesday its highly anticipated annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held online-only from June 7 to June 11.
The conference, which happens every summer, typically unveils new software updates for the iPhone and Mac, along with a new Watch.
However, this year’s event is rumored to showcase Apple’s AR headset or AR glasses, which is being suggested due to the image shared with Tuesday’s announcement.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations, said in a press release: ‘We are working to make WWDC21 our biggest and best yet, and are excited to offer Apple developers new tools to support them as they create apps that change the way we live, work, and play.’

The firm is also said to be working on a ‘helmet-like’ headset, will provide both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences.
A current prototype weighs about 7-10 ounces – about the weight of a soda can – but the hope is to get that down to about 3-7 ounces, possibly by using a fabric exterior instead of the metal frame used in most of its products.
That would make it far lighter than the Quest 2, which weighs a little over a pound.
