Jessica Alba has attributed the inspiration for her consumer goods company — The Honest Company — to her first-born child, Honor, and her own history of childhood illnesses.
The initial idea, following Honor’s birth in 2008, was to provide an alternative to the massive baby product market, with an emphasis on ethical consumerism.
And on Tuesday the actress and entrepreneur got to enjoy some quality time with her look-alike daughter, now 12, during an afternoon together in Los Angeles.

The pair, who got in a little shopping during their time together, were spotted walking back to their parked vehicle after eating lunch at Eataly.
Being one of the cool moms, the Fantastic Four star looked casually-stylish in black drawstring pants, that fell to just above her ankles, and a black-and-white shirt.
She also donned a pair of black slips and had her brown tresses styled long, but pulled the front of her hair off her face with a black headband.

Having had five surgeries by the time she was 11 and her family’s history of cancer, Alba said the birth of Honor had a profound impact on how she wanted to live her life moving forward.
‘When I was pregnant with Honor, I tried to find the healthiest versions of everything,’ she revealed to WebMD in 2012, one year after co-founding The Honest Company.
‘I knew I wanted one brand that I could trust, because there was so much confusion in the marketplace. I felt like the more I read, the more confusing and difficult it was to find the best-quality products.’
She added, ‘I did so much research and hit a lot of walls and was so frustrated, so I decided I had to do it myself.’
