Mira Sorvino looks unrecognisable filming American Crime Story: Impeachment

Mira Sorvino looked unrecognisable with a blonde wig and facial prosthetics as she was pictured on set filming American Crime Story: Impeachment for the first time on Tuesday.

The actress, 53, appeared to be playing the role of Monica Lewinsky’s mother Marcia Lewis, as she headed to film the Ryan Murphy drama in Los Angeles.

Mira is set to star alongside Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky in the anthology series, which is inspired by the infamous Bill Clinton scandal which saw the then US-President accused of having a sexual relationship with a White House intern.

Although Mira’s involvement in the project has yet to be announced, her ensemble suggests that she may be playing the role of Monica’s mother Marcia Lewis.

Lewis famously appeared before the grand jury investigating allegations that her daughter had an affair with US President Bill Clinton.

Mira donned a knee-length fur coat layered over a tweed blazer with gold buttons and matching pencil skirt, reminiscent of one particular outfit Marcia wore during a press conference at the time.

She had a strand of pearls fastened around her neck, a generous amount of red lipstick on her pout, and a pair of black cat-eye sunglasses, with one of her well-manicured hands wrapped around the strap of a black purse.

To complete the 90s era costume, the Hollywood alum slipped on some black sheer pantyhose and a pair of black high heels.

Beanie, who is portraying Monica Lewinsky, wore her brunette strands in a feathery ‘do and kept her figure concealed beneath a large, black peacoat.

The 27-year-old Booksmart actress had a black leather purse in hand, while Sorvino, leaning into her motherly instincts, had one arm gently wrapped around her as they walked.

Similar to Mira’s get-up, Beanie had on some sheer tights and trekked down the sidewalk in a pair of black chunky heels.

In between takes, Mira was seen holding onto a face shield as on-set makeup artists and hairstylists touched up her exterior.

Despite the heat and intensity of filming, the actress appeared to be in a chipper mood, often smiling at crew members in her vicinity.

Mira and Beanie join a star-studded cast, including Clive Owen as President Clinton, Edie Falco as First Lady Hillary Clinton, Betty Gilpin as Ann Coulter, Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, and Annaleigh Ashford as Clinton accuser Paula Jones.

Despite their direct connection to the 1998 scandal, Hillary and Bill only play minor roles in the third installment of the anthology series, which is currently without a set release date.

In conversation with DuJour in February, series star Sarah Paulson spoke candidly about the forthcoming project and how the ‘story’ is ‘really about these three women: Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp.’

‘There is one predominant thing that we forget: that these are human beings and multidimensional people.

‘This series gives you an opportunity to understand some of the behavior. I have more in common with Linda than I care to admit.

‘My impatience, my desire for everything to be just so. I can tap into that with Linda. I felt a connection with her,’ said Paulson of her portrayal of the infamous whistleblower and friend of Lewinsky.
