To fit in with Gorman’s star-making moment, the event is likely to celebrate America with a special spotlight on American fashion designers, a source said.

Although the event is identified with its usual date, the first Monday in May, the event will be pushed back to September in hopes that it will be safer for people to gather at that time.

However, the first Monday of September wasn’t available, as many Americans will be celebrating Labor Day.

‘Even Anna Wintour can’t change a federal holiday,’ another source added.

She previously spoke about the connection between fashion and poetry in 2019 for Vogue, which puts on the Met Gala every year.

‘Fashion brings a distinct visual aesthetic to language. When I’m performing onstage, I’m not just thinking about my clothing, but what my Wakanda Forever T-shirt and yellow skirt is saying about my identity as a poet.’
