He’s reprised his role as New York detective Elliot Stabler in the new NBC spin-off Law & Order: Organized Crime.

And it seems Christopher Meloni has a very famous fan who’s delighted to see him back on screen. 

The actor, 60, retweeted a Sunday tweet by superstar Cher in which the singer and actress declared: ‘CHRISTOPHER MELONI IS EXCELLENT, CHARISMATIC ACTOR.’

Law & Order fans were delighted when Meloni confirmed his return to the Dick Wolf franchise.

His new show premiered on April 1 as part of a special two-hour crossover event with Law & Order: SVU which reunited him with Mariska Hargitay.

The pair starred together on SVU from its premiere in 1999 until Meloni’s decision to quit after 12 seasons in 2011.

Since his departure, Hargitay’s character Olivia Benson has risen through the ranks from detective to commander of the Manhattan Special Victims Unit, and the actress is currently in a record-breaking 22nd season of her hit show.

Fans have been promised that they’ll see more of Stabler and Benson together again as the coming season of both L&O shows unfolds.
