MAFS’ Liam Cooper admits he’s ‘heartbroken’ by ‘wife’ Georgia’s leaked homophobic video

Their once strong relationship was rocked by twin blows of a leaked video and a dramatic breakup during the final Married At First Sight vows.

And now Liam Cooper has revealed just how closely those two shocking events occurred.

‘That video was made three days before final vows,’ he told Hit Hobart 100.9’s Jimmy & Nath on Wednesday, as he discussed the shock clip in which Georgia could be seen laughing as co-star Jason Engler made homophobic comments about her TV ‘husband’. 

 

The prison case officer expressed surprise that only days later, Georgia agreed to spend the rest of her life with him.

‘For some reason Georgia said “yes”,’ said Liam.

It was only later that he found out about the leaked footage and his ‘wife’s involvement in it.

‘[I] got wind of it in January, held onto it, and then went to the reunion and just went to town,’ he explained.

Liam also admitted he was ‘heartbroken’ upon learning of Georgia’s true colours.

‘I just wish they had [matched me with] someone who wanted to be there and wasn’t there just for fame,’ he added.

Last week footage surfaced of Liam’s fellow groom Jason using a homophobic slur against his bisexual co-star and calling him ‘ugly’ and ‘chubby’.

In the two-minute video obtained by Daily Mail Australia, Jason, 35, calls Liam, 29, a ‘full-blown homosexual’ – even though he has made it clear he is attracted to both women and men – and ridicules him for ‘not going to the gym’.

The clip also features Georgia and fellow MAFS star Johnny Balbuziente, who giggle along with a visibly drunk Jason.

Meanwhile, Liam shocked MAFS fans on Tuesday night when he brutally dumped his ‘wife’ during their final vows.  

After the show aired, the star took a parting shot at his ex on Instagram.

Sharing photos from the gut-wrenching farewell, Liam further criticised Georgia, 26, and said ‘love isn’t always enough’.

‘Making the decision to walk away from something special is never easy,’ he said.

‘However, when you feel like someone has not been their authentic self and then takes the opportunity to put you down for all of your faults without first ever wanting to work through it with you, sometimes you need to recognise that love isn’t always enough and some words cut too deep.’

He acknowledged in another post that he hadn’t treated Georgia ‘fairly’ at the last dinner party, but he still felt she’d judged him too harshly in her vows – which he said were about ‘the whole experiment and not just one night’.

Georgia, meanwhile, conceded that she and Liam simply weren’t meant to be. 

‘If you love something, let it go,’ she began on Instagram. ‘If it returns, it’s yours; if it doesn’t, it wasn’t.’

She added: ‘If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they’re yours; if they don’t they never were.’  

Liam brutally dumped Georgia after she turned on him during their dramatic final vows on Tuesday’s episode of Married At First Sight.

After he’d confessed his love for her, Georgia described Liam as ‘manipulative and insecure’ in her vows.

Despite expressing a desire to continue their relationship, a furious Liam then dumped his wife and claimed she ‘doesn’t know the real me’.

‘Entering into this experiment, I was counting on an adventure – an experience of a lifetime to learn about myself and to hopefully meet a compatible match,’ she told him.

‘But then at the [last] dinner party, without warning, you turned on me, you humiliated me, and you degraded me in front of everyone.

‘It was obvious how devastated I was, and yet you chose to abandon me that night when I needed you the most. I’ve never felt so small, inadequate, and confused.’ 

Despite criticising him, Georgia said she was willing to give their relationship a go.

However, an unimpressed Liam responded: ‘I love you, but hearing those vows, you don’t know me. You don’t know me at all.

‘I’ve never seen this side of you, and I think it’s a cop in the face that you say that I’ve done all this to you when this whole experiment, I have given you everything.’ 

He continued: ‘I am sorry for what happened at the dinner party, but I’m not gonna cop that, when that there is an outright lie.

‘As much as I want to make this work, that just shows you don’t know me, and I’m not gonna have a partner who doesn’t know me.’

‘So, let’s just call it quits. I’m done,’ he said before walking away.

After he left the room, Georgia pulled off her wedding band and tossed it to the floor before bursting into tears.
