Helen Mirren, 75, drives fans WILD in Fast & Furious 9 trailer

‘Helen Mirren is a BAD A*S!’ Oscar-winner, 75, drives fans WILD with appearance in Fast & Furious 9 trailer… after ‘BEGGING’ for the role of villainous Queenie in the franchise

She won the Best Actress gong for her role as Elizabeth II at the Oscars in 2006.

Yet Dame Helen Mirren swapped carriages for a wholly different method of transport as she made an appearance in the new Fast & Furious 9 trailer as Magdalene “Queenie” Shaw, where she was seen ‘drifting’ during the ‘bad a*s’ teaser.

Fans of the franchise were stunned to see her appear, despite her appearance as the villainous Queenie in 2017’s Fast & Furious 8, which she revealed she had ‘begged’ main man Vin Diesel for as she was such a lover of the franchise.

The COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the release of F9 – the final Fast & Furious film – by more than one year, but the latest explosive trailer was released on Wednesday.

Vin Diesel is back to battle for his family in the long-running franchise’s ninth film, while John Cena makes his debut as Dominic Toretto’s long-lost brother Jakob.

Twitter users took to the microblogging site to pen: ‘Me after Fast 8: I’m done with this franchise. This movie was so bad that it ruined basically all the post-Tokyo Drift movies. Me after watching Helen Mirren drift: [They pull me back in]…

‘Helen Mirren drifting might be enough to get to me to watch this… Helen Mirren is a badass. No, I will not accept contradictory comments. That is all…

‘Helen Mirren saying “Would you grab that e-brake for me, darling?” to Vin Diesel while she drifts a corner in the Furious 9 trailer is the exact energy I will be bringing into everything from now on… Was that Dame Helen Mirren?…

‘But i’ll watch for Dame Helen Mirren and Dame Helen Mirren only… Helen mirren is 1000%… Helen Mirren drifting and Charlize?… OK well, guess I might have to watch a Fast & Furious movie for the first time since Tokyo Drift’.

Back in 2017, Helen debuted as Queenie in the films.

She spoke about her debut at the time as she revealed: ‘My role in F and F 8 came about because I begged for it. I almost went down on my knees. Not quite…

‘But I went down on my metaphorical knees to Vin [Diesel] and to everyone. I always… I just wanted to be in one of those movies. So word went out that I wanted to be in it and they very kindly gave me a role in it. So I was very excited.’

Helen went on: ‘Actually it was particularly because I wanted to work with Vin, because I just think he’s just so spectacular on the screen. He’s just got something… He’s a real movie star. He’s got something magical on the screen.’

In further adoration of the franchise, she then cropped up in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, a 2019 spin-off, starring Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson.
