Katy Perry has declared social media to be ‘the decline of human civilisation’.
The singer, 36, who boasts 115million followers on Instagram and 109million followers on Twitter, admitted she is not a fan of either platform.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: ‘Social media is trash,’ before following up with another message reading: ‘the decline of human civilization #isaidwhatisaid’.

Katy didn’t make clear why she decided to hit out at social media but later tweeted to her fans: ‘anyway. Ily’ (I love you).
The hitmaker’s Twitter account is the third most followed in the world, with only Barack Obama and Justin Bieber having a higher count.
The California Gurls star’s Instagram is currently ranked 21st in the world for followers, with footballer Cristiano Ronaldo having the most at 276million.
Katy was back in front of the camera on Monday on the latest episode of American Idol and informed fans her fellow judge Luke Bryan is ‘doing good’ after testing positive for Covid-19.
