Edgar Ramirez signs on to star in the new Netflix series Florida Man… after costarring alongside Jennifer Garner in streamer’s hit film Yes Day

He recently starred in a family film for Netflix that was seen by over 50 million households.

And Edgar Ramirez is continuing his collaboration with the streaming platform, as he has signed on to star in the new eight-episode series The Florida Man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ramirez, 44, will play a struggling ex-cop who is forced into the Philadelphia mob underworld to find a missing woman.

The series was created by Donald Todd, executive producer of NBC hit show This Is Us, who will also serve as showrunner.

Additionally, Todd will executive produce the show, alongside Jason Bateman and his Netflix-based production company Aggregate.

According to Netflix, the movie was seen by approximately 53 million households since its release last month.

(It is important to note that Netflix classifies a household as having ‘watched’ a title as long as two minutes have elapsed since pressing play.) 

Other recent credits for Ramirez include this year’s HBO limited series The Undoing, opposite Hugh Grant and Nicole Kidman.

The Venezuela-born actor also famously portrayed murdered fashion designer Gianni Versace in season two of Ryan Murphy’s decorated anthology series American Crime Story on FX.

The screen actor also has a number of additional projects in the works, some having been delayed for quite a while due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Two of those titles are Disney’s Jungle Cruise, due this summer, as well as spy thriller The 355, which has been pushed back until next year.

That film costars Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o and Diane Kruger.

Edgar is also currently filming the video game film adaptation Borderlands.

The movie costars Cate Blanchett, Jack Black and Jamie Lee Curtis, and comes from horror maestro Eli Roth.
