Chris Hughes has revealed he has gained weight during lockdown because ‘some days all I want to do is eat’.

The reality star, 28, who rose to fame with his chiseled abs on the 2017 series of Love Island, admitted he felt a little apprehensive stripping off on ITV Racing last month for an ice bath challenge, but is ultimately ‘happy in my own skin’.

Chris told The Sun: ‘When I did that ice bath challenge I was like, “God, my body does not look like it did four years ago in Love Island”.

‘But I’m happy in my own skin. It doesn’t make me any less happy with what I am now.’

Chris added he might venture to the gym now it has opened but hates working out.

He said: ‘If I’ve got a holiday coming up I might get in the gym for a month beforehand. I don’t really enjoy going, if I’m honest, I just occasionally set foot in there for about 20 minutes and get out.’

Chris told the publication it ‘hasn’t been easy’ spending lockdown alone after splitting from his girlfriend Jesy Nelson last April after 16-months together.

The television personality said he is open to dating someone who isn’t in the public eye and said his previous relationship was difficult because they were ‘doing different things which made it harder to see each other’.

Earlier this month, Chris detailed the toll his separation from the former Little Mix star took on his mental health.

The reality star told The Sun: ‘It was difficult. Sometimes you just grow apart. There have definitely been days when I wake up and things haven’t felt great. The period 12 months ago was really tough.’

He added: ‘There were days where I was waking up and our split was the first thing I was thinking about.

‘I had to try my hardest mentally to break the cycle. Life was a s**tstorm.’

Jesy and Chris went public with their romance in January 2019, when they were seen enjoying a steamy date in a kebab shop, after weeks of rumours around the union.

Chris is currently single, while Jesy last month sparked speculation she’s rekindled her romance with ex-boyfriend Harry James, weeks after her breakup from Sean Sagar.

Last month the hit-maker posted a video of a food order from upmarket sushi restaurant Roka on a Saturday night – while Harry shared an identical snap to his Instagram stories.

Singer Jesy previously split from musician Harry in 2018 after a 16-month relationship – but sources have since said the pair has become reacquainted after spending time together in the studio.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Jesy and Harry have been hanging out together again after reconnecting in lockdown.

‘They always shared something special and are enjoying bonding over music, with Harry even joining Jesy in the studio as she works for the first time on solo material.

‘Sean and Jesy have stayed friends and all he wants is for her to be happy, he’s pleased she’s been able to reconnect with Harry.’
