Car crashes into wall outside Buckingham Palace after police chase as three men are arrested for theft and drink driving

  • Officers were pursuing the vehicle until collision on Buckingham Gate at 10.45
  • Men inside suspected stolen car all detained by officers at the scene of the crash
  • Nobody was injured and the incident is not being treated as terror-related

Three people have been arrested after a suspected stolen car smashed into a wall near Buckingham Palace during a police chase. 

Officers were pursuing the vehicle through Westminster until the collision on Buckingham Gate at around 10.45am this morning.

The men inside were all detained on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, with the driver further held on suspicion of drink driving. 

Nobody was injured and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘At approximately 10:45hrs on Thursday, 22 April a car was in collision with a wall on Buckingham Gate, SW1 following a pursuit by police.

‘Three male occupants of the car were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. The driver of the car has also been arrested for drink driving.

‘No reports of any injuries. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.’
