He’s one of Australia’s most prolific TV hosts, but according to Osher Günsberg, no job is more important than being a dad.

In an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly in March last year, the 47-year-old host of The Bachelor franchise and The Masked Singer said his favourite role is simply being a father.

‘The most important job I have, which is being a husband and father, is the one I do best,’ he said at the time.

‘All I want to do is build a future for these kids, that’s it. And for someone as selfish as me that’s a big deal.’

Osher is a doting dad to his son Wolf, 20 months, and teenage stepdaughter Georgia, who he shares with his wife of five years, Audrey Griffen.

The renowned media personality regularly shares adorable photos of his young son on Instagram, as he revels in being a first-time father.

‘It’s just incredible feeding this boy language and seeing how his brain grows and responds to it just like when we feed him good food.’

In July last year, Osher detailed his favourite aspects of fatherhood in yet another adoring Instagram post.

‘Parenting is full of rewards. Beyond the incredible spiritual growth that kicks in as you realise your newfound responsibilities in the world for these growing humans, there’s so many other incredible prizes that you receive,’ he wrote.

He then rattled off a list of everything he loves about being a dad, including: ‘Nuzzles, Eskimo kisses, bath time cuddles, baby carrying’.

Osher joked that he also planned on ‘using the kids as an excuse to get out of absolutely every social commitment for about 15 years’.

He added that he was also loving ‘discovering new music on the way to weekend sports’ and ‘doing more laundry than you thought humanly possible’.

But he said his absolute favourite thing about becoming a dad was ‘LEAVING THE HOUSE IN TRACK PANTS’.

Speaking to The Australian Women’s Weekly, Osher revealed his dad ‘gene’ kicked in shortly after he met Georgia, before he even welcomed Wolf.

‘It was very early on that she went from being my girlfriend’s kid to the next day being someone that, if she was standing in the road and a bus was coming, I would push her out of the way even if it meant I would die,’ he confessed.

‘It was like a switch turned on and my DNA had activated some gene, some expression turned on, that was it. My life is no longer just about me, it just happened.’

In a September interview with Mamamia, Osher admitted that while he was nervous about becoming a dad, he was able to ‘figure it out’.

‘If you wait until you’re ready, you’ll never be ready. You just do it and I promise you, you’ll figure it out,’ he said.

‘Just trust in the knowledge that a gazillion people have done it before you, so every single problem that you think you’ll face, someone has already figured it out.

‘Honestly, who hasn’t held their newborn baby in their arms, going, “What have I done bringing you into this world?”… Every single parent has done that and you know what? We figure it out.’
