Australian DJ Flume leaves fans perplexed with bizarre ‘anti-bullying’ Instagram post featuring photos of himself with tape over his mouth

Flume left fans scratching their heads on Tuesday after he uploaded a peculiar Instagram post about bullying.

The Australian DJ, 29, whose real name is Harley Edward Streten, uploaded a series of photos of himself himself posing around the house with a piece of tale covering his mouth, alongside the caption: ‘Say NO to bullying.’

The photos showed Flume dressed in a grey hoodie striking a sorrowful expression as he posed in front of a white wall and behind a corrugated metal fence.

Other photos showed him posing with an unpeeled banana and a saxophone held up to his mouth.

It’s unclear how the images relate to the topic of bullying, and it seems likely Flume shared the post in jest.

Flume’s bevy of famous friends were quick to comment on the bizarre post, with model Jessica Gomes joking: ‘Helps the snoring’.

It wouldn’t be the first time the Grammy winner left fans perplexed by his social media antics.

In April last year, Flume sent Instagram wild when he uploaded photos of himself looking unimpressed as he sat inside a swimming pool, fully dressed.

Posing with a red lollipop, the musician captioned the bizarre photo: ‘Evolving’.

It came after the Grammy Award-winning musician revealed that he was heading down the same path as DJ Avicii who died tragically, aged just 28, in 2018.

Speaking to the My Friend Podcast last year, Harley said he was self-medicating to cope with performing.

‘I mean I used a lot of alcohol. Like, when performing, I would drink to calm nerves,’ he told the podcast.

‘I would drink to make it bearable, which sounds crazy but really it’s the truth. I’m just not a performer and I’ve definitely used alcohol to feel comfortable on stage in front of people.’

Flume went on to say that the combination of mental health concerns and substance abuse could have seen him suffer the same fate as the Swedish superstar DJ.

He said: ‘I think people like Avicii and things, are literally the same as me. And he died because he was medicating himself just like I was, with alcohol, drugs, whatever.
