‘Fighting the good fight’: Home and Away’s Johnny Ruffo gives fans an update on his brain cancer battle as he faces the disease for a second time

Former Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo has given fans an update on his brain cancer battle, as he continues to fight the disease for a second time.

On Wednesday, the 32-year-old shared a picture while receiving treatment in a hospital, smiling as he shared a thumbs up to the camera while hooked up to an IV.

‘Been busy fighting the good fight,’ he wrote. ‘Another round down.. Bring on the next!’

An abundance of well-known faces took to the comments section to wish the popular actor well, with Larry Emdur posting: ‘Kicking that s**t to the kerb like a rockstar.’

Lynne McGranger, who plays Irene Roberts on Home and Away, added: ‘Hey friend, you got this. Let me know when you and Tahnee are about and free. Must do food.’

Radio host Mel Greig said: ‘You got this sending so much love to you and bae xx,’ while X Factor star James Owen added: ‘You’re an absolute legend mate and your strength and determination will kick its a**. you’ve got this buddy.’

Johnny –  whose girlfriend Tahnee Sims has been by his side throughout his battle – revealed the heartbreaking news he was once again fighting brain cancer on November 24. 

‘After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned,’ he wrote on Instagram. 

Johnny was first diagnosed with the disease in 2017 after he went to hospital with painful migraines.

In August of the same year, he had a 7cm brain tumour surgically removed, before undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. 

Johnny rose to fame on talent show The X Factor in 2011, where he placed third. 

He later portrayed Chris Harrington on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016.
