Talking about the decision to have the wedding quickly, Katie admitted that ‘time is precious’ and that she wants her terminally ill mother Amy to be ‘well enough’ to attend as she continues to battle her incurable lung condition.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a condition that causes the build-up of scar tissue in the lungs.
Katie said: ‘I want my mum to be able to rest easy knowing I’ve finally found someone I’m happy with,’ adding: ‘She knows I will be OK now – it’s given her peace of mind. That means the world to me, that Carl brings that peace to mum.’
The TV personality added that her mother is delighted over the engagement and can’t wait to have Carl as a son-in-law.

While Carl sweetly shared details about his proposal and ‘fairy-tale’ custom made engagement ring, which is just under seven carats and ‘eye-watering’ expensive, after asking for her parents’ and son Junior’s permission.
Katie told the publication that ‘this is real this time’ and Carl is ‘The One’, she added: ‘My head’s in the right place, it’s not rushed, it’s been done properly. Not only am I head over heels in love, my kids approve and my family approve.’
The former glamour model, who has been married three times in the past, admitted that it was ‘refreshing’ to be with someone who ‘doesn’t need her for anything’ and that she feels ‘fresh’ about life after a turbulent few years.
Katie also said that bankruptcy has been the ‘best thing’ that has happened to her as she ‘secretly knows that Carl is not with her for money’, joking: ‘I don’t have millions in the bank!’

In October, Katie, who was once worth around £40million, attended a bankruptcy hearing over Zoom during a Maldives getaway where she said she does not live a ‘lavish lifestyle’ after she was officially declared bankrupt in November 2019.
The mother-of-five added that she plans to legally change her name to Katie Woods and this is the first time she has done this in her life despite being married three times in the past.
Talking about the proposal, Carl revealed that he planned the engagement at his Essex home where he had balloons, flowers and a custom sign that said ‘Dolly [his nickname for her], will you marry me?’.
Prior to the romantic gesture, the former Love Island star asked for Katie’s mother, Amy, 69, and her father Ray, 70, approval, as well as her son Junior, 15, who she shares with ex-husband Peter Andre.
Approval: Katie told the publication that ‘this is real this time’ and Carl is ‘The One’, she added: ‘Not only am I head over heels in love, my kids approve and my family approve.’ (pictured together with her children Harvey, 18, Junior, 15, Princess, 13, Jett, seven, and Bunny, six)
Carl joked that Junior only agreed after giving him a ‘talking to’, he said: ‘Junior gave me a talking to, like he was my dad, he was asking me if I was sure. He gave me all the pros and cons about his mum and said: “If you’re happy, then I’m happy.”‘
After getting ‘100%’ from Katie’s parents and eventually her son Junior, the reality star designed a custom made engagement ring, just under seven carats, from Rankins in east London with a ‘one-off design’.
Carl admitted that it was ‘eye-watering’ expensive and that it’s ‘made a dent’ in his bank account although he knew it would ‘do the talking’ during his proposal.
Talking about her ‘fairy-tale’ ring, Katie revealed she was ‘blindsided’ by the dazzling diamond and joked how delighted she was not having to ‘buy her own ring’ this time.
To the future: Katie has made no secret of her desire to marry Carl and said she ‘couldn’t wait to continue my life with Carl’ when her divorce to Kieran Hayler was finalised last month
The couple went on to discuss their wedding revealing that it will take place this year and it will depend on how ‘quickly’ they can get it organised.
Teasing what fans can expect, the couple said it will be about family, great food and top class entertainment. They added that it will not be ‘boring’ or ‘bog-standard’.
Katie insisted that she doesn’t need ‘celebrities’ around her and that they only want guests with ’emotional value’ attending, adding that her exes will not be getting an invite.
Discussing what she could be wearing at her wedding, Katie revealed that she will be in trainers due to breaking both her feet in a freak accident in Turkey over the summer. She teased that she may not actually be ‘walking’ down the aisle.
The star added that she knew she could trust Carl after her accident as he was her ‘knight in shining armour’, proving ‘in sickness and in health’ way before their engagement. She also said that the Covid pandemic had brought them closer.
The proposal comes six weeks after Katie’s divorce from her third husband Kieran Hayler was finalised- three years after their split.
Speaking to OK magazine about their engagement in another interview earlier this month, Katie said: ‘It’s refreshing to be with a man that if I decided I never wanted to work again, he’d look after me, I just love him.

‘We’d spoken about it a lot, so I knew he was going to, I just didn’t know when. It was amazing. Carl asked my mum and dad for permission – and Junior. With Carl, Mum’s already told him not to mess me around and so far he’s passed the t****r test.’
Katie added that Carl isn’t interested in her fame ‘or anything to do with’ her alter-ego Jordan and has his own money.
The couple took to Instagram to share their happy news on Tuesday evening and uploaded a snap from their engagement photoshoot.
