Studio 10’s Richard Reid mourns the passing of his ‘awesome’ stepfather Ron at age 93

Richard Reid has revealed his beloved stepfather Ron has passed away.

The 56-year-old entertainment reporter took to Instagram on Tuesday to share photos of himself with Ron, along with a touching tribute to the man who raised him.

Ron passed away on Friday at age 93.

Reid shared several throwback snaps with his stepfather, including a black and white photo of Ron and his mother surrounded by Richard and his siblings. 

The former Today contributor captioned the post, ‘It’s time to say good-bye to my awesome stepfather, Ron, who left us on Friday.’ 

‘My dad would have turned a remarkable 94 years old this week!’ 

‘As many of you know, Ron married my mom when I was just 7 years old and was a true God-send,’ continued the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star. 

Reid continued, ‘It takes a special guy to take on the responsibly of a woman with three bratty kids, however that’s the sort of man Ron was.’ 

‘Kind, smart, stable but with an adventurous spirit, Ron was never at a loss for words, a laugh or a long-winded story which was always worth the wait.’ 

‘What a life well lived! Now he’s onto his next great adventure and he’s good with that. Good luck, Ron. I love and miss you already.’

Reid had a daily segment on Channel 9’s Today program from 2008 until 2015. 

He has also appeared on the network’s Celebrity Apprentice Australia and Domestic Blitz.

The journalist has more recently served as a regular correspondent for Studio 10.
