‘I’m tired and alone’: Nadia Essex reveals her son Ezekiel, 13 months, was rushed to hospital with a viral infection

Nadia Essex has revealed that her baby son Ezekiel, 13 months, was rushed to hospital after contracting a viral infection on Wednesday.

In the taxi home she told her followers: ‘He is okay. He has got a viral infection. So, just lots of cuddles and Calpol. Doctor’s orders.’

But later the single mother, 39, began to question the medical advice: ‘I feel like I’m missing the magic key to help settle him because I’m tired and alone,’ she told fans.

The former Celebs Go Dating star continued: ‘He’s been to sleep for like 20 minutes and he’s probably going to wake up in an hour. Literally, is the best thing for me to do cuddle him?

‘I’m giving him Calpol and paracetamol as per the doctor’s orders but he’s still got a temperature and he’s still properly crying.’

Nadia also revealed to her fans that she hadn’t been able to sleep for the past 48 hours.

‘I feel like I’ve got brain fog and there might be a magic trick I’m missing because I’m too dumb to realise and it’s staring me in the face,’ she added.

The TV personality welcomed her son Ezekiel in March 2020, just ten days before the first lockdown, after she was given a one per cent chance of conceiving naturally.

Discussing her experience of being  a first-time mum, Nadia sweetly admitted that her baby son has ‘kept her going’.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline last month, Nadia said: ‘Being single and a new mum during the pandemic has been crazy.

‘I literally went from having friends over every day to help me by either cleaning or having a cup of tea, to it just being me and my baby with no help or respite while trying to recover from a C-section.’

Nadia admitted that she was ‘sad’ that Ezekiel turned one yet he has never taken part in any baby groups due to the pandemic.

She said: ‘I look back and think I don’t know how I got through it to be honest. It is sad to think he will be one in about two weeks time and has never taken part in any group activities with other babies outside of the house.

‘It is tough and I have days where I feel inadequate as a parent like I am not doing enough. The mum guilt is real but I try to stay present and not get too anxious about it because you can really get yourself into a depressive pit.

‘The other side of it is that we have spent every day together for nearly a year and I wouldn’t have had this time with him if it wasn’t for the pandemic. We will have a bond like no other.

‘For me, 2020 has been the best time in my life because of this beautiful bundle of joy and all of a sudden, I felt a love that I had never felt before.’

Issuing advice for other mothers who have welcomed children during the pandemic, Nadia said it is important to focus on the positives.

She said: ‘What I would say to other mums in my position would be try not to over think about the things you might have missed out on with your baby and think of the positives you have gained.

‘Lockdown has gained us so much time which is a commodity we wouldn’t have had the luxury of before 2020.

‘My baby has definitely kept me going during the pandemic, before him I don’t know how I would have got through lockdown completely on my own.’
