Ellie Goulding gives BIRTH! Singer welcomes her first child with husband Caspar Jopling

Ellie Goulding has welcomed her first child with her husband Caspar Jopling.

The singer, 34, gave birth just weeks after surprising fans with the news that she was eight months pregnant in a stunning at-home shoot for Vogue Magazine. 

Caspar confirmed she had welcomed a baby on his Instagram story on Sunday as he shared a picture of a bunch of flowers and wrote: ‘Mum and baby both healthy and happy 🙂 Extremely grateful’. 

Ellie and Caspar married in August 2019 at York Minster, and first learned they were expecting while celebrating their one-year anniversary last year.

It comes after Ellie candidly discussed how she was able to keep her baby news a secret for so long during an interview on Sunday Brunch earlier this month.

The songstress admitted she covered her growing bump with her husband’s coat as she chatted with hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy.

Asked how pregnancy had been for her and how she kept it a secret, she said: ‘It’s different… I stole my husband’s coat for about six months. 

‘But that was really just in the shops, I didn’t go anywhere else. Out on walks, I just kept it covered up. It wasn’t really that hard, though, because of lockdown, I haven’t really seen anyone.’    

A glowing Ellie swathed her stomach in a multicoloured jumper and floaty dress as she chatted. 

The singer, who married art dealer Caspar in 2019, announced her pregnancy in stunning at-home shots taken for Vogue Magazine. 

The Starry-Eyed hitmaker said she fell pregnant while on a trip celebrating their one-year anniversary in Italy last August. 

Ellie’s last major appearance was at the V&A Museum that month and she has spent the duration of lockdown at home in Gloucestershire.  

She said: ‘We did The One Show. I was pregnant and had no idea. That was [around] the time when Caspar and I went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that’s basically when we found out.   

‘It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality. 

‘Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human. I want a better word than womanly, [but]—I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.’  

Ellie admitted that being pregnant during a pandemic felt like a lonely experience but felt like complaining was a taboo. 

She also previously said she did know her baby’s gender ‘by default’ when she had the scan, but had no interest in doing an official ‘reveal.’

Ellie and Jasper met in 2016 after they were seated next to each other at a dinner arranged by their mutual friend, Princess Eugenie. 

The pair got married at a star-studded wedding at York Minster in August 2019, attended by everyone from the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson to the actress Sienna Miller and singers Katy Perry and James Blunt.
