Ruth Langsford, 61, gets second Covid-19 Oxford/ AstraZeneca vaccine

Ruth Langsford revealed she has now received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in Surrey on Saturday. 

The TV presenter, 61, admitted she felt ‘so grateful’ to have the Oxford/ AstraZeneca jab as she took to Instagram to share snaps of her experience. 

The vaccine is prioritised for citizens over the age of 65, but the Loose Women panellist revealed she was called early back in February after receiving a message from the NHS. 

Ruth heaped praise on the doctors and nurses for the ‘good experience’ she had while getting vaccinated.  

She sported a black T-shirt with the word ‘love’ across the front and appeared to be beaming behind the face mask she was wearing. 

Both Ruth and the nurse appeared to be in great spirits as she was administered with the injection. 

Ruth penned: ‘2nd Vaccine done!! SO grateful. Thank you to all the wonderful doctors, nurses and volunteers at the Walton on Thames vaccination centre for such a good experience…

‘Well organised, friendly and reassuring…and it was BUSY! Missed you @stephanieshervington but Sally did a great job! @nhsengland #covidvacccine’. 

The TV star got her first vaccine in February and admitted in an Instagram post that she thought the NHS text message was a scam when she first received it.

The Covid vaccine is injected into the upper arm and requires two doses. The second vaccine takes place between three to 12 weeks after the first dose.

Upon receiving her first vaccine, Ruth admitted she was another step closer to being able to her beloved mother Joan again. 

She was was recently reuniting with her mother after Covid restrictions kept them apart for a year, with the star admitting she had ‘a little cry’ during their meeting. 

Ruth, who is the ‘nominated family member’ allowed to visit, previously told how she got to see her mother after a Covid-19 test, while she thanked the care home staff for their help.  

The emotional reunion comes after she broke down in tears last month after revealing she hadn’t physically touched her mother Joan for months due to the pandemic.  

Ruth spoke further about her visit with her mum on Loose Women, revealing that their meeting was ‘very emotional’ and that she had ‘a little cry’.

Speaking further about the visit, she told The Mirror: ‘It was lovely. We both cried, but they were happy tears. It was very emotional. 

‘It had been a year since we’d been together, but we fell very quickly and very easily back into that relationship we’d had.’

Joan currently resides in a Surrey residential home, just a stone’s throw away from Ruth and husband Eamonn Holmes’ pad.   

During their first meeting after a year apart, Ruth revealed they quickly fell back into a routine as she made Joan tea, watered her plants and got her advice on a challenging crossword puzzle. 

They also sat down to chat about what’s been on TV while holding onto each other’s hands ‘very tightly’.
