After Denise left a gift hamper for Karen amid her financial woes and following young Bailey running away from home, an exasperated Karen lost her cool and attacked the launderette with a sledgehammer.

Despite Denise having good intentions, her gestures had devastating consequences for Karen as her anger resulted in losing her much-needed job.

Determined to put things right, Denise decides to appeal directly to Karen’s boss and recruits Rainie and Sheree to help, with the ladies telling a few white lies along the way.

However, their attempts to put pressure on Apostolos don’t appear to have much impact.

The ladies then realise that actions speak louder than words when it comes to truly helping Karen through her difficult time as they get together to organise a heartfelt gesture for their neighbour.

Karen has almost reached breaking point after a series of tragedies have rocked her family.

Last year, she was left devastated as her and Mitch’s daughter Chantelle died, with the pair still unaware that Chantelle’s husband Gray was responsible.

While the family are also mourning the loss of their beloved dog Bronson.

In recent weeks, they’ve found themselves struggling financially and after overhearing their money woes, Mitch’s daughter Bailey (whom Karen cares for as her own) ran away believing she was a burden.

Thursday’s episode saw a desperate Karen shout out amid her arrest: ‘That’s it, lock me up, shut me up, pretend I don’t exist.
