Shanina Shaik has revealed her beloved grandmother has died.

The Victoria’s Secret model, 30, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Tuesday.

‘I lost my nana this morning,’ Shanina wrote in her tribute, adding that the pair were ‘very close’.

‘Growing up, I would spend most of my weekends and summers with her,’ she said.

Shanina, who is of Jamaican, Lithuanian and Pakistani ancestry, said her nana was one of her biggest fans, and had supported her since the start of her career. 

‘She would take me to all my castings and modelling jobs. She loved to laugh and spend her time with family,’ she explained.

Shanina, who was born in Melbourne and is now based in the United States, said the ‘hardest part’ of losing her nana was being so far from home. 

‘The hardest part of today was being so far from Australia. I couldn’t say goodbye and give her one last hug,’ she said.

‘Heaven accepted a fun-loving angel today. Always in my heart,’ she concluded.

Shanina has just returned to America after spending an extended period in London.

She also recently debuted her new boyfriend, record label owner Matthew Adesuyan. The pair went Instagram official on Valentine’s Day.

The catwalk queen was previously married to Greg Andrews, a.k.a. DJ Ruckus, from 2018 to 2019.

In January, Shanina was asked during an Instagram Q&A if she would ever get married again.

She responded by posting a photo of herself from her wedding day to DJ Ruckus.

‘I think marriage can be a beautiful union! I’m not against it… and I would love to get married again one day,’ she wrote.
