And now Married At First Sight’s Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson have revealed the secret meaning behind the ink on the back of their forearms. 

Bryce told his followers that the design is significant to the pair as they flew kites during their MAFS honeymoon.

‘(The design comes from) our favourite part of the honeymoon that was never shown because it didn’t match ‘our storyline’ unfortunately,’ he said in response to a fan after posting a black and white photo of the pair showing off their ink. 

The controversial couple, both 32, got identical forearm tattoos on the Gold Coast just days after filming their final vows in Sydney in early December.

‘They got the tatts after the final vows when they went home to visit Bryce’s parents for Christmas,’ a close friend told Daily Mail Australia.

The tattoos feature a cross enclosed in a diamond shape, with two lengths of string coming from the bottom to form a kite.

Bryce also has a tattoo of headphones to represent his radio career, but he’s had that for almost a decade.

The couple showed off their new ink during Wednesday night’s reunion dinner party, which was filmed in Sydney in February.

The newlyweds declared their love for one another in gushing Instagram tributes earlier this week, after deciding to stay together at their final vows. 

Melissa shared a gallery of photos of the couple looking smitten, and wrote:  ‘Our love may be controversial, but it is epic and it is real.

‘We love each other and there is no better feeling.’

She added in a second post: ‘My heart is full. I love this man so much and we truly make each other happy every single day. 

‘While it might be hard for some to believe, it is my decision, my life and my choice. And I choose him. He is my partner, my lover and the man that I have fallen head over heels for.

‘Our love story is what I asked for; an all consuming and unconditional love. And I have found that with Bryce.’

Bryce echoed Melissa’s feelings in his own Instagram post, writing: ‘I came into the MAFS experiment for one sole purpose, knowing there was a chance it may not work out the way I wanted.

‘Wanting to find love and someone to share my life with, I leave MAFS with a full heart and the most genuine, loving, and supportive woman I’ve ever met. Words can’t describe how much I have fallen in love with Melissa.’ 

The pair decided to stay together at their final vows, despite the many ups and downs their relationship had experienced throughout the experiment.
