The Bachelor star Emily Ghougassian shares ‘big development’ on her newborn daughter

Former Bachelor contestant Emily Ghougassian gave birth to her second daughter, Aisha Céline, six weeks before she was due.

And on Thursday, the 37-year-old gave her followers an update on her newborn’s condition.

Emily took to Instagram to share a photo of her baby girl resting on her chest, under her shirt and wrapped in a blanket.

Her little one was sound asleep as she spent quality time with her mother. 

Emily proudly wrote in the caption: ‘Aisha has finished off her first two bottles today! Big development!

‘Most of her feeds go down the tube, but she managed to to drink a couple herself today,’ she added.

Emily, who had experienced pregnancy complications that required hospitalisation, gave birth to her daughter six weeks early on May 2.

She shared photos of herself cradling her newborn in the neonatal intensive care unit, and revealed her little girl was ‘doing really well’ despite being more than a month premature.

‘She entered the world on 02/05/21, at 10:32pm, weighing 1.94 kg, six weeks earlier than was intended. She is in the NICU, doing really well, and hopefully moving to the SCN [special care nursery] very soon,’ the proud mother wrote.

Emily described Aisha Céline as ‘our second little premmie princess’, and told fans ‘our little family is complete’. 

She and Pierre are already parents to one-year-old daughter Laila, who was also born premature at 33 weeks in July 2019.

The makeup artist had been forced to seek medical treatment for preeclampsia during her first pregnancy two years ago.

She experienced the same problem while pregnant with Aisha.

Preeclampsia is a potentially dangerous pregnancy complication characterised by high blood pressure.

It affects around five to eight per cent of pregnancies in Australia and in some rare cases it can be deadly. 

Emily assured fans on Monday she was doing well after giving birth to Aisha, saying: ‘Preeclampsia is under control.’

‘As for Pierre, he is the most amazing, supportive hubby I could ask for, and was by my side every step of the way,’ she added.

Emily first made a name for herself on Sam Wood’s season of The Bachelor in 2015.

Following her stint on the Channel 10 dating show, she tied the knot with Pierre in August 2018, one year after they first met.

The couple exchanged vows at the Melbourne Town Hall, followed by a reception at The George Ballroom in St Kilda.
