Rihanna fans rejoice amid reports she is set to release new music for the first time in FIVE YEARS

Rihanna fans have been waiting a long time — five years to be exact — for the superstar to release new music.

And a new report published on Thursday said that her ninth album — which has been dubbed by fans and the singer herself as ‘R9′ — has finally come together,’ though many details are ‘tightly under wraps.’

The Barbados born artist, 33, has continued to string her fans along for a few years now, sharing in 2020 that she was ‘aggressively’ working on new music, before coyly teasing it would be coming ‘soon’ in March.

New music? A new report published on Thursday had Rihanna fans rejoicing after it was said that the superstar’s highly anticipated ninth album has ‘finally come together,’ having last released music in 2016

The Sun seemed to put skeptical fans at bay, as an insider told the publication that music things are definitely in the works including a new video.

‘Rihanna has been secretly working on new music for a long time and her ninth album has finally come together. She has kept fans waiting for a long time — and the pandemic slowed things up even more,’ the source said.

Additionally details about the music video shoot were revealed with the source saying that she has already picked a director by the name of Raja Virdi.

‘The project is still tightly under wraps but Rihanna will be filming a new music video in Los Angeles in July. Raja has been brought on board by Rihanna and her team, and he will be flying out to oversee everything.’

The duo have worked together on a few occasions and Virdi has become somewhat of her go-to videographer, filming everything from promotional videos for her photography book (The Rihanna Book) to various appearances and projects under her Fenty Corporation.

The Desperado singer’s last album ‘ANTI’ was released in 2016 and since then her ‘Rihanna Navy’ have been reading into everything she posts in the hopes that it may tip them off to a musical release.

In January of 2019 she shared a video of herself in the recording studio while letting out a faint vocal which sent people off the walls. And at one point she had teased her fans with a July 2019 date, before following up that month with a video of Redd from Love & Hip Hop Atlanta saying ‘it was all a lie.’

In February 2020 she posted again from the recording studio with Pharrell and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes writing: ‘back in da STU,’ telling British Vogue a month later that she was ‘very aggressively working on new music.’

‘I can’t say when I’m going to drop,’ she added of the ‘closely guarded’ project.

And Pharrell later confirmed in a November 2020 interview with Allure that he and Hugo were helping to engineer her ninth album. ‘Rih is in a different place right now. Like, wow. She’s from a different world,’ he said.

It had also been claimed that Diplo and singer-songwriter Skylar Grey had worked on a song for her album, with Grey sharing a snippet of the song they engineered before deleting the post.

‘I was working with Diplo on a song for Rihanna. Wrote this with a guy…This was when Rihanna was supposedly doing some kind of reggae album. I don’t know if she’s still making a reggae album or what, but this is a song we did for it,’ she said.

But six years and a lot of false alarms later her ‘navy’ has gotten more aggressive with hounding her which has prompted some social media comments from the Umbrella singer.

After she shared that her 2021 resolution was to ‘apply the pressure,’ a fan chirped: ‘Resolution should be releasing the album,’ which prompted her to fire back ‘this comment is sooo 2019. grow up.’

In late March however she seemed to quench a bit of the thirst, commenting back to a fan that she was contemplating a musical release shortly. ‘Celebrate by releasing a song !!,’ a user wrote, to which she replied: ‘I think I should soon.’
