In a Variety profile from November, she shared that she had three projects lined up once it was safe, and she appears to have completed work on one of them already.

According to IMDb, Shirley’s next film American Dreamer has finished principle photography and is in post-production, while two others are in the pre-production stage.

Among them is the film People Not Place, in which the octogenarian would play the lead role as a ‘sprightly woman in her twilight years’ who befriends a homeless man and tries to fix her broken relationship with her son.

In her Variety profile, the Terms Of Endearment star attributed her remarkable longevity to her temperament.

‘I’m not a diva,’ she said, tracing her resiliency to her dance training as a young girl.

‘That comes from my 3-year-old ballet training. I’ve got to go all the way back to that and just hard, honest work, with quite a bit of art, if you can muster it, thrown in.’

Staying active helps too, and she keeps the roles coming so she can travel the world

‘I’ve also stayed in the business and never thought about quitting because I wanted to pay for plane tickets to travel. I didn’t socialize Hollywood style,’ she explained. ‘I’d rather travel to a country I hadn’t been to. So when I think about my life, I’m not sure I wouldn’t put the travels a bit above show business.’

Shirley’s earliest success came on Broadway as a chorus girl in Oklahoma!, and after going back to Arlington, Virginia, to finish high school after the summer was over, she head back to Broadway with renewed determination.

Her big break came when she replaced the star of a 1954 production of The Pajama Game after she was injured, and the next year she made her film debut with Alfred Hitchcock directing her in one of his rare comedies, The Trouble With Harry.

Since then, she’s starred in classics including the Clint Eastwood Western Two Mules For Sister Sara, the bittersweet romantic comedy The Apartment, and the film that won her the Oscar, Terms Of Endearment, among many others.

In addition to that prize, which she was nominated for four previous times, she’s also the winner of an Emmy and five Golden Globes.

Although she’s now on the coast, MacLaine often spends time on a ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with her three rat terriers.

After filling in on Broadway in 1954, she made her screen debut for Alfred Hitchcock in 1955's The Trouble With Harry. She's won numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Terms Of Endearment
