Marcus Rashford looks dapper at documentary Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In premiere

Marcus Rashford ensured to cut a smart figure as he attended the premiere of new documentary Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In at Old Trafford on Thursday.

The Manchester United player, 23, stepped out solo for the outing, looking dapper in a black jacket and crisp white shirt.

It comes after it was reported that Marcus has split from longtime girlfriend Lucia Loi, also 23, after eight years of dating.

Marcus looked suave as he posed for some snaps on the red carpet, while still wearing his rain-covered jacket.

He paired his coat with a smart navy suit, which he wore with one button fastened, and white shirt.

Adding a more casual touch to his premiere look, Marcus completed his ensemble with a pair of patent black trainers.

The documentary, Never Give In, was directed by the former Manchester United manager’s son, Jason Ferguson, and is intended to give fans an insight into a man known for his fiery personality and determination.

Speaking at the premiere, Jason said: ‘It’s about a man’s life, you know, it’s about the adversity he has faced personally and professionally at different stages of his life, and it’s about memories.

‘He decided to be open, he decided to be honest and he was, I think it was possibly difficult for him at times. I think the difficult thing is when the doctors were being interviewed and you’re getting information that you weren’t aware of at the time.

‘In terms of, I knew it was serious but I didn’t quite know until those interviews were done exactly how serious it was.’

In 2018, Sir Alex suffered a brain haemorrhage and the film shows him reflecting on his time in hospital, and how deeply the experience affected him and his loved ones.

Sir Alex said: ‘The NHS were fantastic, I mean one day I am walking about in Wilmslow and then the next day I am in hospital and I don’t remember a thing.’

The premiere comes after Marcus reportedly split from his girlfriend after eight years of dating, with it being understood that they called it quits earlier this year.

However a source told The Sun that despite them ending things for now, there’s still hope that the school sweethearts might ‘reconcile’ after some time apart.

Insiders said the couple broke up amid ‘lockdown pressures’, but still ‘love and respect’ each other.

A source close to the Manchester United star said: ‘After eight years together, Marcus and Lucia have made the mutual decision to part ways.

‘There is a strong mutual love and respect for one another, having met at school, and there is a continued dialogue with the hope of a reconciliation in the future.’

It is understood that Marcus and Lucia, who met at Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester, split three months ago.

Marcus’ representative said they had ‘no further comment’ when contacted by MailOnline.

Lucia has been seen supporting Marcus at football games over the years, including during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

After the World Cup the duo flew to Barbados where they were seen relaxing in the sun during a yacht day and enjoying themselves on a jet-ski.

Lucia, who worked as an account executive for Manchester firm Sugar PR, is thought to have graduated in Advertising and Brand Management with first-class honours last summer.

A LinkedIn page under her name says she attended Manchester University from 2014-2017.

It comes after it was revealed in April that Marcus and his fans have distributed more than 21million meals since first Covid lockdown.

FareShare has handed out the equivalent of 128.5million meals in the year since March 23 2020 – more than double the number in the previous 12 months.

Marcus partnered with the charity around the start of the first lockdown, concerned that school closures could lead to millions of pupils going hungry.

He forced a Government U-turn on free school meal vouchers over the summer holidays, and his petition urging the Government to go further in tackling child hunger hit 100,000 signatures just 10 hours after it was launched.

Film Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give can be seen in cinemas and on Amazon Prime on May 29.
