Heinz has made a limited edition bottle of sprayable mayonnaise after being inspired by Peter Crouch‘s podcast.

The ex-England star has been backing the bizarre invention ever since it was suggested by a listener earlier this month.

Tom from Glasgow was branded a ‘genius’ by Crouch and his co-hosts Chris Stark and Tom Fordyce after contacting the That Peter Crouch Podcast with the idea.

Heinz has only made a small batch of these initial limited edition bottles just for the podcast hosts and Tom, but told FEMAIL they could launch it nationwide if the nation demands.

Tom revealed the idea came to him while on a trip to Spain when he spotted a waitress holding a pot of mayo in one hand and a spray bottle of table cleaner in the other.

‘My mate ordered some food and the waitress came over with a thing of mayonnaise and a spray bottle and started cleaning the table.

‘I just thought – hold on, sprayonnaise.’

He added: ‘I am stunned and totally thrilled that such a small idea lingering in my head for the past few years has had its potential recognised by such a hugely successful company as Heinz.’

The podcast hosts have been backing the idea for weeks, even enlisting a secret mayo mole who has been feeding them drops of intel.

They invited footballer guests – like West Ham’s Mark Noble – to invest in it.

Heinz’ groundbreaking new mayo is dispensed from a whipped cream-style container, resulting in a thick, rich, whipped sauce ideal for salads, chips, sandwiches and anything and everything else.
