And Michelle Williams was a vision of cool as she appeared at an ESSENCE Festival of Culture event in New Orleans on Sunday.

The former Destiny’s Child songstress, 41, wowed in a mint green blazer with matching drawstring trousers.

With a head full of loose, cascading curls and a stunning complexion amplified with a professional polish of makeup, Michelle dazzled as she worked the crowd with the microphone in hand.

She injected a touch of sparkle with her glam studded earrings and her Christian Louboutin high heels.

Michelle clearly didn’t lose any of her magical stage presence from her days performing alongside Beyonce and Kelly Rowland.

Even after more than a year of social distancing, it was as if no time had passed for Michelle as she confidently spoke with Charli Penn, the Lifestyle Director for Essence.

On top of Michelle’s successful singing career, the duo were likely discussing her newly released book, Checking In: How Getting Real about Depression Saved My Life – and Can Save Yours.

In 2018, Michelle revealed that intense therapy sessions ‘saved her life’ and said that she hoped to serve as an ‘ambassador’ to tell others ‘it’s okay to get help.’

‘I have been public about depression since the year 2013, but somehow, people care even more now. And that’s okay, as long as I can be an ambassador and a vessel to tell people it’s okay to get help,’ the singer told DailyMailTV.

Earlier in 2018, Michelle shared an emotional statement to her Instagram where she revealed she had sought help from professionals.

The star penned: ‘For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognise when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing.

The upcoming 2021 Essence Festival of Culture doesn’t officially kick off until the weekend  of June 25, but fans were given a taste of all the fun to be had as Essence celebrated the city of New Orleans in the lead-up to the 27th annual festival this weekend. 

In-person attendance is limited to Louisiana residents, according to Billboard, however fans can still take part virtually with a variety of digital offerings including a Wellness House, Beauty Carnival, and after party.

Among the entertainers dazzling audiences Sunday was singer Adrienne Bailon, who wowed in a denim jumpsuit glammed up with gold hoop earrings.

The former Cheetah Girls singer put on a powerful display as she serenaded the crowd some of her songs.
