It comes after Madonna appeared to confirm she has replaced writer Diablo Cody with Erin Wilson – known for writing films such as Secretary and The Girl On The Train – on her upcoming biopic.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, the Holiday hit-maker cosied up to Erin, 57, captioning the snaps: ‘Sitting with my favorite b***h… I mean writer ✍️ Erin Wilson. Nothing Touches but our Souls. #traceyemin #screenplay!’

Madonna also shared snaps from the room she was writing with Erin in. She had bedecked it with flowers and candles and had laid out snacks, with dried petals and herbs strewn about the table.

In April it was reported that screenwriter Diablo quit working on the upcoming Madonna biopic after encountering challenges working alongside the singer.

But Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the 42-year-old filmmaker did not actually leave the project but instead turned in the final draft and moved on to a new project.

A source for the showbiz publication said that she and Madonna turned in a finished, final draft of the script they had spent months working on throughout 2020.

Prior to this, The Sun had reported that the Jennifer’s Body director found Madonna too difficult to work with as the singer has been ‘very particular’ over the way her story is told.

‘Madonna and Diablo spent weeks working on the screenplay and made good progress,’ a source told the site. ‘But Madonna is understandably very particular about how she wants it to be.

‘She’s a perfectionist and because it is about her life, she is being very careful about how things come across.

It was then said that Universal Pictures was looking for a new writer, in the hopes that the film will follow in the success of similar musician biopics such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman.

‘Madonna doesn’t need the money and isn’t going to let a movie get made which she doesn’t feel is authentic to her experiences,’ the insider added.

News broke back in September that Madonna would be directing the biopic, with Academy Award winner Diablo co-writing the film with her.
