Adele marked the fourth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire with an emotional tribute on Monday and called for the official inquiry into the tragedy to speed up.
The singer, 33, recorded a moving message in which she thanked Grenfell United – a group made up of victims and the family members of those who lost their lives – for continuing to ‘fight the fight’ as they seek justice.
Monday marked four years since a small kitchen fire in the west London high-rise turned into the most deadly domestic blaze since the Second World War, with 72 people losing their lives and another 70 injured.

In the clip shared by the group, the Hello hitmaker said: ‘Today marks four years since the Grenfell Tower fire, and still, there are so many unanswered questions.
‘Still, the trial is taking way too long, and still, no one has been accountable for that night’s events.
‘And yet, Grenfell United is still out here, fighting tirelessly for the justice and for the change that not only they deserve, that their community deserve, that the whole country deserves.

She continued: ‘And for that, I’d like to thank you. Thank you for putting your pain aside for all of these years to fight the fight. I can’t imagine the kind of personal consequences that has on you.
‘I really hope that this time next year, you will have the answers that you will need to finally, finally be able to breathe together. I love you, I’ll see you soon, stay strong. We’re all with you.’
An estimated 274,000 flats in the UK are still said to be fitted with the same dangerous cladding that set on fire at Grenfell.

In 2020, Adele attended a memorial event and posted a tribute on social media.
The 33-year-old star wrote at the time: ‘Today, Sunday, is 3 years since #Grenfell. 72 lives will be forever in our hearts.’
Shortly after the fire, the Grammy-winner visited the scene to speak to victims and their families.

Similarly, she attended the Memorial Service at St Paul’s Cathedral and even went to thank the firefighters involved for their efforts.
A total of 72 residents lost their lives and a further 74 sent to hospital with non-fatal injuries as a result of the fire.
Firefighters battled for nearly 24 hours before the inferno was eventually brought under control at 1.14am on June 15.

Yesterday Grenfell United said in a statement: ‘Four years on and time has not made our loss any easier.
‘We hear more damning evidence every week at the public inquiry showing us just how preventable the fire was – had they listened.
‘Yet four years on, the Government are as determined as ever to avoid taking any meaningful action to prevent another Grenfell.
‘We’re determined to keep the pressure on Government to break this cycle of inaction and indifference, and to confront those guilty parties that continue to show complete disregard to the safety of us all.
‘Grenfell has highlighted a toxic political culture within the construction industry. Both the Government and the building industry corporates involved have striking similarities – which is total lack of regard for human safety.
‘We will continue to campaign for truth, change, and justice – not just for our loved ones, but for the whole country, to ensure that no one has to suffer how we have suffered, and so that such a tragedy never happens again.
’72 lives lost, forever in our hearts.’
On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: ‘Today we remember the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell tragedy four years ago. My thoughts are with the survivors, the bereaved and the wider community affected by this devastating fire.
‘This government is committed to ensuring this never happens again.’
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: ‘There are many whose lives will never be the same after Grenfell.
‘We owe it to the people who died, to the survivors and the entire community to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again.’
