‘It was the worst present’: Kyle Sandilands reveals he threw 2GB host Ben Fordham’s gift overboard during his 50th birthday boat party
They always say it’s the thought that counts – but apparently that phrase doesn’t cross the mind of Kyle Sandilands.
The KIIS FM presenter has revealed he threw 2GB host Ben Fordham’s gift overboard – right in front of him – during his 50th birthday boat party on Saturday.
Kyle explained that Ben, 44, had sought him out to personally present him with his gift early on during the festivities.

‘You know how we had a gift room?’ Kyle told his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson. ‘Well, that wasn’t good enough for Ben Fordham.’
Kyle then explained how Ben found him talking to his brother and his brother’s girlfriend on the top deck of the $3,000-per-hour superyacht he’d hired for the party.
‘Ben Fordham saddled up… with the long trench coat and a pink cap on, which I found was a bizarre choice of colours,’ he said.

Ben then gave the shock jock his gift, which he described as a ‘terribly cheap Casio watch from 1988.’
According to Kyle, the watch also came with a note which read: ‘You’ve probably got a few watches, but here’s your favourite.’
‘I’m looking at the watch and I thought, “This is s**t,”‘ he said.

Kyle said the Channel Nine host was then giving him that ‘cheeky Ben Fordham face, you know how he thinks he’s pretty cool?’
After looking at the present again, Kyle ‘hoinked’ the gift overboard and left, leaving Ben speechless as his brother ‘laughed in his face.’
‘So if you want a 1988 Casio watch, it would probably be at the bottom of the harbour, somewhere near Taronga Zoo,’ Kyle added. ‘It was the worst present that anyone bought. Thank you, Ben, for a very small effort.’
