‘I may have this amazing career, but Andrew and the boys come first,’ she said, referring to her film editor husband, Andrew ‘Drew’ Thompson.

Natalie added that working in breakfast TV over the years has allowed her to juggle both motherhood and her career, because after work, she was always there as a ‘full time mum for the rest of the day.’

‘I could be with them and watch them grow up every day. In that way, it was magical,’ Natalie said.

‘We talk a lot, all day, every day. One of the top things for us has always been respect – to respect what the other wants to do,’ Natalie said.

She added: ‘Also, to give one another space and to talk about how you’re feeling, where you want to go in life, and to be honest.’

Natalie meanwhile has just taken on the top job at Sunrise, being a co-anchor alongside veteran TV star David ‘Kochie’ Koch.

Former Sunrise host Samantha Armytage quit the show in March.
