With production under way on the DC Extended Universe sequel Shazam: Fury of the Gods, director David F. Sandberg unveiled the new costumes.

The 40-year-old filmmaker took to Twitter on Monday morning, revealing the new costume worn by Zachary Levi, who plays the title character.

‘Don’t know how long we can keep the new suits from leaking so here’s a pic I took the other day,’ Sandberg said in his tweet.

The first Shazam followed 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who is chosen by a wizard to become an adult superhero (Zachary Levi) by simply saying the word Shazam.

Also returning are the actors playing Billy’s friends in their adult hero forms, Adam Brody playing Freddy Freeman, Meagan Good as Dara Dudley, Ross Butler as Eugene Choi, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield and DJ Cotrona as Pedro Pena.

He also responded to an excited fan who said, ‘WAIT GRACE IN THE SUIT,’ with the director adding, ‘Yes, Grace now plays both parts. But her hair and makeup is slightly different when she’s super so nobody will ever recognize her. Hey, it works for Wonder Woman!’

Angel will return for the sequel as well, along with the other stars playing the younger counterparts, Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman), Faithe Herman (Dara Dudley), Ian Chen (Eugene Choi), and Jovan Armand (Pedro Pena), with Sandberg confirming Fulton is playing both versions of Mary Bromfield.

They will all be joined by new cast members Lucy Liu as the villainous Kalypso with Helen Mirren as her sister Hespera, both daughters of Atlas.

Rachel Zegler, who was plucked from obscurity by director Steven Spielberg to star in his West Side Story remake, also signed on back in February in a mysterious role.

Sandberg will direct from a script by Shazam writer Henry Gayden, with Warner Bros. setting a June 2, 2023 release date for the superhero sequel.

Levi was first seen in the new superhero suit earlier this month when production got under way, though Sandberg’s photo is the first look at the rest of the new suits.
