EXCLUSIVE: ‘I’ve modelled myself on George Clooney’: Dave Hughes reveals how the Hollywood star has motivated his new look after turning 50
He’s the Australian comedian who celebrated turning 50 in November.
And now, Dave Hughes has revealed how Hollywood star George Clooney, who is 10 years his senior, has inspired his new look.
‘I’ve modelled myself on George Clooney basically,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

Dave explained that he feels like he has gone ‘too far down the track’ to start colouring his hair.
‘I’m not too far off being completely white. I’m going to keep the silver look, if I turn up looking like someone I am not it would just look bizarre,’ he continued.
‘If it’s good enough for George. It’s good enough for me,’ he said.
‘My wife appears to like it, but I think that’s because it might put other women off, i’m not sure.’

The radio presenter said that his family are yet to adjust to his decision to adopt a plant-based diet after watching the pro-vegan Netflix documentary The Game Changers in October 2019.
‘Having a plant-based diet has probably annoyed my wife if anything because we’re all having separate meals basically,’ he said.
Dave explained that aside from eating a healthy plant-based diet he goes for daily runs around Sydney’s CBD.

‘I love jogging down the middle of George street,’ he said.
‘The other day I was playing chicken with the light rails, the light rail was coming towards me, and I was coming towards it. One of us was going to veer off track, so it ended up being me, but I gave him a fright.’
Meanwhile, Dave confessed that he was feeling the best he has in years, despite turning the big 5-0.
‘I’m certainly a lot less scared of criticism as I used to be,’ he said.

The father-of-three went on to say that the thing he fears the most, are his two daughters Sadie, 9, and Tess, 7.
‘My 12 year old son was being a souk and I told him to “man up” and they were not impressed,’ he recalled.
‘”Why did you have to man up dad? What’s good about being a man?” they said. Yes, fair enough person up mate, person up son.’
